Last night we celebrated the launch of the The Avid Reader Magazines & Books Summer Reading Guide. It was a FANTASTIC night!
I had the opportunity to speak about some of my favourite reads for 2024, including:
Cheryl Leavy's YANGA MOTHER (illustrated by Christopher Bassi)
Tylissa Elisara's WURTOO (illustrated by Dylan Finney)
Vivienne Cleven's BITIN' BACK (University of Queensland Press (UQP)
Tony Birch's WOMEN & CHILDREN
Mykaela Saunders' ALWAYS WILL BE: Stories of Goori Sovereignty from the Futures of the Tweed
I also took a few minutes to talk about my first book as publisher, Stan Grant's MURRIYANG: SONG OF TIME, coming out Dec 4 through Bundyi Publishing, the First Nations Imprint of Simon & Schuster Australia.
Fiona Stager spoke to her fave reads (including DIRRAYAWADHA, thanks Fiona,) and everyone left with books for ourselves and gifts for Xmas.
Not bad for a wet Friday in Magandjin!
What's everyone reading this weekend?
